The Sail, Power & Steam Museum is a treasure trove of interesting and exciting exhibits. Located on the old Snow Shipyard property on the shores of Rockland Harbor, it is the only maritime museum in Maine located on an authentic, historic shipbuilding site.
Inspect the builder's models of amazing, huge, trading schooners and see the ways on which they were launched. View old images and photographs of these vessels under sail. Many displays are operating, "hands on" kind of objects. Engines- steam or make 'n break- ride in a Model T Ford- cruise Rockland Harbor on our 1914 Flagship or roam on our waterfront beach. There is lots to do at Sharp's Point South-SPS Museum.
Our Vision: Maine's maritime heritage helped to shape our nation, and it will continue to influence and inspire our future.
Our Mission: To celebrate, honor, experience and share the story of our maritime heritage.
SPSM has wonderful offices for rent on the shores of Rockland's active working waterfront. The proceeds of rentals help to fund the museum's many programs and educational outreach. SPSM is a "501 C3", not for profit entity. A "life of the lease" membership is yours with all the opportunities afforded.
We are open Spring, Summer & Fall from Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm, closed from Dec thru April. We do hold many special evening events throughout the year.
