Practical Public Speaking: From Fear to Success, live and in-person May 4, 2023!

Belfast, Maine — Registration is open for an in-person professional development course, Public Speaking, offered May 4 through the University of Maine Hutchinson Center in Belfast. This program runs from 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. ET.  The cost is $200 per person. The UMaine Hutchinson Center is located at 80 Belmont Ave., Route 3, in Belfast, Maine. This program will increase participant’s confidence and provide them with the tools to improve their public speaking abilities. Learn how to communicate more effectively to engage and motivate an audience. Through reflection, interactive activities, discussion and PRACTICE, participants will work together to improve their public speaking skills. Participants will walk away with the skills to nail presentations and the confidence to have conversations that will deepen relationships and lead to success. 

Those who are business leaders, educators, managers, municipal employees, nonprofit workers, religious leaders, researchers, employees working from home and anyone who has ever had a conversation with anyone else will benefit from this program.

Presenter Tom Dowd (DTM) (also known as “Transformation Tom”) received a communication degree from the University of Delaware. He is a prize-winning speaker, and an award-winning and Amazon best-selling author, trainer and coach. As a member of Toastmasters International, National Speakers Association, Maine Career Development Association, and Maine Adult Education Association, Dowd has exhibited consistent professional success with a growth mindset.
