The Maine Lobster Festival is on a mission to add 200 volunteers to its team in 10 days by July 4 during a special campaign to fill a number of positions at this year’s Festival, Aug. 2-6. To encourage volunteerism and educate the public about volunteer opportunities the Festival Volunteer Committee is conducting a volunteer drive over the next 10 days. You can volunteer online or by phone as part of this campaign. Every year, it takes over 1,300 volunteers to make the Festival a success. There’s a job for every age and ability level, and a lot of fun!
Sign up online at www.mainelobsterfestival.com/info/volunteer or call (207) 596-7126.
Volunteering at the Festival is not only an opportunity to give back and make memories, it also comes with some perks. Volunteers will receive an exclusive volunteer T-shirt and a half-price food voucher for the eating tent for every four-hour shift worked. Businesses looking for an employee activity are encouraged to sign up as a team for a shift. Non-profit organizations and student groups looking for fundraising opportunities will receive a $200 donation for working a shift as a group.
As an entirely volunteer-run organization, all Festival profits go toward running the next year’s Festival and supporting the community throughout the year through donations, scholarships, and city projects.
