170 Main Street, Damariscotta, Maine (November 2023): Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, Maine’s leading luxury real estate company, is proud to announce Fred Hebert of New Harbor has joined the brokerage in Damariscotta. “Fred’s international experience in the corporate world, combined with his passion for real estate and helping people find their dream homes, make him a valuable asset to our team,” says Founder & President Chris Lynch. “Fred’s commitment to community and his understanding of both the buyer and seller perspectives is impressive. His clients will appreciate his access to our global network and resources.”

Fred Hebert brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to real estate after a strong career of over three decades in the property-casualty insurance sector, where he worked both domestically and overseas. Throughout his career, he relocated multiple times and purchased vacation homes, granting him firsthand insight into the intricacies of the property market. Fred has lived in cities across the world including New York City, Philadelphia, Charlotte; Chennai, India, and most recently London, England, and Darien, Connecticut, but through it all, Maine has been a constant home.

It was a natural fit to pivot to real estate after retiring from the insurance industry. Fred’s professional journey equipped him with pivotal skills, such as effective communication, strategic negotiation, a deep understanding of contracts, risk-value relationships, and meticulous attention to detail. These experiences, complemented by his diverse real estate portfolio, empower him to offer unparalleled value to his clients.

Fred was first introduced to beautiful Midcoast Maine over four decades ago by his wife, whose family has owned a cottage on Pemaquid Point since 1888. He was immediately captivated by the natural beauty of the Maine coastline. Growing up in the close-knit environment of a New Hampshire town also deepened his appreciation for the community spirit and the serene lifestyle of the Midcoast. They later purchased a summer home in New Harbor that became the gathering place for family vacations and holidays. After retirement, they considered many destinations across the country for their forever home, but realized the house in New Harbor was the “Goldilocks” fit: the perfect combination of natural beauty, community, and connections to family history.

Alongside his wife, Fred actively supports local community-driven nonprofits like the Central Lincoln County YMCA and the Wawenock Golf Club. Fred also remains dedicated to his alma mater, the University of New Hampshire, by serving on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the College of Liberal Arts and supporting the B. Thomas Trout Scholarship, which provides financial support to deserving students to enjoy study abroad programs. Outside of his professional commitments and community involvement, he loves spending time outdoors and enjoying the active Maine lifestyle, from playing tennis and golf to skiing and boating.

Fred takes pride in his unique approach to real estate, rooted in establishing genuine relationships with clients. By adopting a client-centric, consultative method, he can discern his clients’ motivations, aspirations, and requirements with precision. This ensures that the guidance he provides is tailored, facilitating well-informed decisions throughout the selling or purchasing journey. He will always act in the best interests of his clients and assist them in making the best choices to achieve their real estate goals.
